Blog Link: Changed by Beholding

I came across a blog post which touched my heart. It is basically linking what we watch to my guiding principle - Philippians 4:8 "...whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

The title of the blog post is "Think on these things" it was written by Caitlin Baughman. Part of the post reads:

"What bothers me, is when people go to midnight showings and watch movies that they KNOW will have "Sensual Scenes" or "F-bombs", they say, "It's okay, it doesn't bother me." or "I just ignore it."

To be honest... you can't just ignore it. We slowly give way to accepting what our culture watches.

At first, we may fast forward the "kissing scene..." maybe the next time, "we watch just a little bit of it"... slowly, we accept the fact, that kissing scene's are in every movie we watch, and we little by little become okay with it.

What once was a sin to see... still is... but, we accept it now. We justify our sin. We think that we won't be "cool", if we don't see the movie."

"By beholding we become changed, the mind gradually adapts to subjects upon which it is allowed to dwell. It is assimilated to that which it is accustomed to love and to reverence" ~ The Great Controversy, page 555, paragraph 5, by Ellen G. White.

Side note: It is a contradiction to our Christian walk when we call that which The Lord forbids entertainment. The Lord said thou shall not kill, steal, lie, commit adultery etc, but most of the movies we watch surely have all or some of these things.
